Thanksgiving Food Program

How the Program Works:
Each year FOCUS (Fellowship of Christians United in Service) distributes Thanksgiving groceries to Harris county residents who cannot afford a traditional holiday meal. 2017 marks the 27th year of our Thanksgiving food program and FOCUS will help more families than ever, with nearly 400 families expected to apply and qualify for assistance. Qualified applicants will receive food based on their family size.

Harris County residents may apply for Thanksgiving food at the FOCUS office in Hamilton on Thursday Nov 2 through Saturday Nov 4, 2017. FOCUS is open Monday -Friday 10:00 – 2:00 and Saturday 10:00 – 12:00. The FOCUS office is located in Hamilton at 232 Hamilton Square Street (across the street and south of the closed Wells Fargo).

People under age 65 must bring food stamps card and people over 65 must bring proof of monthly income.

Applicants will then receive a food ticket which must be redeemed when they return to pick up their groceries on Saturday, November 18th

Families will need to pick up their groceries at the Harris County Community Center at 7509 GA Hwy 116 in Hamilton (just past St. Nicholas Episcopal Church on the right) on Saturday, November 21st between 9:00 – 11:00am. Applicants who are unable to pick up their food will be able to apply for delivery to their homes.
