A Message From Executive Director Bill Searcey

FOCUS is honored to announce the awarding of two grants to be used in our Thrive tutoring/mentoring program and in the food delivery program for shut ins.

We received $2500.00 from the Georgia Power Foundation, Inc. Atlanta, Ga. for the tutoring program. Georgia Power continues to be one of our most faithful partners.

We received $4325.00 From the Episcopal Community Foundation for Middle and North Georgia. The local Episcopal Church, St. Nicholas, has been a most valuable partner with FOCUS for many years and these funds will be used to expand the services for our food delivery program for shut ins.

News from the Office

The members of the Pine Mountain Boy Scout troop delivered a truckload of food they picked up. The food was donated by residents of the Pine Mountain community to be used in the Focus annual Thanksgiving food distribution. The Boy Scouts have assisted in this endeavor for many years.

In November, FOCUS Emergency Services helped a total of 313 clients. This included the distribution of 1944 bags of food to 626 individuals in 285 families; 101 of those families included children. Also included in these figures are 1836 bags of food for 264 families and 562 individuals for the annual Thanksgiving food distribution..

1836 bags of food were packed by some 90 volunteers for FOCUS’ Thanksgiving community food distribution . On the Friday before Thanksgiving the bags are made up by volunteers and then on Saturday the recipients come to the Community Center in Hamilton where the food is carried to their cars by another group of volunteers.

.
. Cubs For Christ

Sara Mack, coordinator of Focus Thrive Tutoring program, led the November program at the meeting of the Cubs for Christ held in the Park Elementary School.

Sara’s thanksgiving theme hat helped everybody have a good time and learn about Jesus. See our website for a picture of Sara’s hat.

Focus sponsors these monthly gatherings which various churches and individuals lead and teach the kids about Bible stories

Helping Through Home Repairs

During November, FOCUS assisted a needy home owner, in Waverly Hall, with materials to repair their floors.

We are always looking for home repair projects to help those in need and those who cannot make the repairs for themselves. Please call FOCUS and Dick Weaver will contact you to see what we can do and when we can make your repairs.
