A Message From Executive Director Bill Searcey

We at FOCUS are able to do the work of our ministry through many partnerships. Some are working partnerships, involving many volunteers, and some partnerships help with the needed financial resources. One of those partners, and probably the longest standing association we have had, is with the Harris County Art Club at the Harris County High School.

Every year the Art Club sponsors the Empty Bowl Dinner with all the proceeds from the evening benefiting FOCUS. The talent of these budding artists is outstanding and under the direction of Mrs. Sondra Palmer these students display their art for all to see. After the meal many of these works of art are auctioned off and attendees have the opportunity to bid on them.
Frequently there are other works of art by some well known Harris County artists available at auction.

The meal consists of soup with bread, and the variety of soups available is astounding. Each dinner guest may choose a hand made bowl made by one of the art students as a gift. The theme for the Empty Bowl event this year will be “Time Line of Art”. Tickets are available for purchase at FOCUS and also may be purchased at the door. The event is held at Harris High School cafeteria and the date is Saturday, April 22 from 6-8 pm.

Please come and have a delicious meal, socialize with old friends, and see the talent of these Harris County students. At the same time you will be supporting a local Harris County ministry, celebrating it’s 33rd year of service.
